Wizards
A wizard is a short guided conversation your sidekick runs in its own voice: an opening, a handful of questions, and a closing. Use one for audience surveys, lead qualification or feedback. Every answer is collected for you to review.

Open the sidekick's Sheet and go to the Wizards tab. Press New wizard, or pick a template from Start from a template. Everything in a template is editable.
| Template | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Audience survey | Learn who a visitor is and what they like, so your sidekick can point them at the right things. 6 questions. |
| Lead qualification | Find out whether someone is a fit before anyone spends time on a call. 6 questions. |
| Feedback | Ask people how something went and what would make it better. 4 questions. |
| Blank | Start from nothing. |
The wizard editor
The editor has four parts:
- Opening: the wizard's Name and its Purpose. The purpose tells the sidekick why it's asking, so it can introduce the wizard naturally and stay on topic.
- Questions: add questions with Add question and reorder them with the arrows. You describe what you want to learn, and the sidekick phrases the question in its own voice.
- Closing: what happens After the last answer.
- Settings: how people can answer, and what's kept.
Question types
| Type | What the person gives |
|---|---|
| Open reply | Anything, in their own words. |
| Yes or no | A yes or a no. |
| Single choice | One option from your list (Options, one per line). |
| Multiple choice | Any number of options from your list. |
| Scale | A number in a range, for example 1 to 5. You can label what each end means, such as "brand new to it" to "a serious collector". |
| Contact details | Their name and email. |
| Photo upload | Between the minimum and maximum number of photos you set: JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC, up to 15 MB each. You can add a consent line they must tick. The exact wording is saved with every photo. |
Each question can be Required. Its Follow-up setting decides whether the sidekick may dig a little deeper when an answer is thin: No follow-up, One follow-up or As needed.
Closing, rubric and score
Choose what the sidekick does After the last answer:
- Thank and close: a simple goodbye.
- Recommend from knowledge: suggests something from the sidekick's knowledge base that fits the answers.
- Summarize and score: wraps up with a summary.
- Collect contact details, then close: asks for name and email at the end, then says thanks.
You can add an Instruction to shape the closing, such as tone or what to mention.
Write a Rubric, in plain language to have every response scored, for example "a strong lead has a budget over $5k and wants to start this quarter". Each response gets a score and a one-paragraph summary, and the responses list shows the average.
Wizard settings
- People can type and People can talk: offer typing, voice or both. With both on, people choose on the first screen.
- Run actions on test runs too: by default, your own test runs don't trigger actions.
- Guest runs per day: a cap on how many times visitors without an account can run it each day.
Actions and notifications
Actions
Actions run in the background after someone completes the wizard. Press Add action to add one:
- Send to a webhook: posts the completed answers as JSON to a URL you choose, such as your CRM or an automation tool. Optionally add a Signing secret so your endpoint can verify each request (sent in an
X-Sidekick-Signatureheader). You can also include links to uploaded photos, which stay valid for 7 days.
Save the wizard once before adding actions. If an action fails, the response is flagged and you can retry it from the responses list.
Email notifications
Turn on Email me about this wizard. Your own address goes in first, and you can add more under Send to. Then choose what to hear about:
- When someone completes it
- When an action is ready
- When an action fails
- Include their answers and Test runs too
Testing and going live
A new wizard starts as a Draft. From the wizard list:
- Try it opens the same page a visitor gets, in test mode.
- Set live publishes it. Back to draft takes it down again.
- Once it's live, you get a Share link and a Copy embed snippet button to put it on your site.
Reading responses
Click the response count on a wizard to open its responses. Each card shows the answers, any photos, the score and summary, and the status of its actions: Done, Needs review, Action failed and so on. The header shows how many people completed it and the average score.
- Completed only hides runs people abandoned partway.
- Show test runs includes your own tests.
- Export CSV downloads everything for a spreadsheet.
