The sidekick can't hear me

• Allow microphone access when your browser asks. If you blocked it before, click the lock icon in the address bar and allow the microphone.
• Voice only works on pages served over https://.
• If you embedded the full panel yourself, the iframe needs allow="microphone; camera; fullscreen". The code from Copy Embed Code already includes it.
• In the desktop app, check that your system's default input is your real microphone. On some computers it's a silent line-in socket, and the sidekick hears nothing.

There's no voice or video button

Check which chat types are switched on under Connections → Chat Mode Settings. If only one is enabled, the embed shows just that one. Video chat also needs an avatar set up on the Body tab, and it isn't included on the Adventurer plan.

Replies feel slow

Try a faster Mind Module on the Mind tab (the cloud Cerebras options are the quickest), or a lower-latency voice model on the Body tab, such as ElevenLabs Flash v2.5 (lowest latency). If you're running locally, see hardware.

Visitors are asked to sign in

That's how it works when guest chat is off. To let anyone chat without an account, turn on Allow guest chat under Connections. Guest conversations count toward your usage.

The search page shows "not found"

A search page only exists once Publish a search page is on (under Connections → AI Search). If you've filled in Allowed sites, the site embedding it must be on that list. See AI Search Pages.

The embed broke after I renamed the sidekick

Embed codes point at the sidekick's ID, called its slug. Copy a fresh snippet with Copy Embed Code and replace the old one on your site.

Only one chat bubble shows up

A page can only run one chat bubble. If you've placed it both sitewide and on a specific page, the second one is skipped.

My changes don't show in the embed

Make sure you clicked Save Changes on the Sheet, then start a New Conversation or reload the page. A conversation that's already open keeps the settings it started with.

It says "This sidekick is currently unavailable."

The account is paused, usually because a free trial ended or a subscription lapsed. Nothing has been deleted. Open Plan & usage from the usage meter in the sidebar to subscribe, and it comes straight back. See Plans & Billing.

It doesn't answer at all, or says a limit was reached

• On a free trial, check the usage meter. A monthly allowance may be used up until the 1st.
• Go to Settings → API Keys and press Test on the keys the sidekick uses. A missing, expired or out-of-credit key is the usual cause.
• AI providers sometimes retire models. If one of your Mind Modules or voices stops working, pick another on the Mind or Body tab.
• Check that Agent is enabled is ticked at the top of the Sheet.

Some documents failed

Click Retry Failed at the top of the Knowledge Base page. Scanned PDFs with no text layer and password-protected files can't be read. Export them as text-based PDFs, or as DOCX, and upload again.

The sidekick doesn't know something that's in a document

• Check the document's status is READY.
• Click Access on the document and make sure this sidekick is on the list.
• If you use access tags, a document can be held until someone decides who may read it. Held documents are readable by nobody and are counted on the Knowledge Base page. See Knowledge Base.

Answers are off-tone, too long or off-topic

Edit the sidekick's soul on the Spirit tab. Say plainly how long answers should be, what it should and shouldn't talk about, and what to do when it doesn't know something. Abilities, formatting rules and memory are added automatically, so there's no need to describe those.

It makes things up instead of using my documents

Turn on Show Knowledge Base Citations on the Settings tab, so you can see which sources it used. If it's missing context, raise the number of knowledge results on the Mind tab a little. Also add a line to the soul such as "If the documents don't cover it, say so."

Senses says "Not running — no schedule"

Senses need a Mind Module marked ✓ Senses on the Mind tab. Single model and modules marked Senses cannot run can't run a Pulse. See Senses & Autonomy.

Reminders aren't arriving

• Check Reminders by on the Scheduled Tasks page. A greyed-out channel tells you what's missing when you hover over it.
• Email reminders need the sidekick's email address switched on under Connections.
• Telegram reminders need your Telegram linked in Profile Settings → Channels.
• Look for stopped and need attention at the top of the Scheduled Tasks page. Fix the reason shown, then click Resume.

"Connect to Sidekick Forge" fails

During one-click connect, Sidekick Forge calls your site back to verify you own it. This fails if your site's REST API can't be reached from the internet, for example behind a password-protected staging site, an IP allowlist or a strict firewall. Allow the request, or use Manual configuration on the plugin's settings page. See WordPress.

Synced pages aren't used by the sidekick

When syncing, choose which sidekick the content is for. Content synced without a sidekick is stored, but no sidekick can read it.
